2016 was a year of growth for Mazda

The Japanese brand continues to grow in the European market and especially in the national market.

For the fourth consecutive year, Mazda again recorded double-digit sales growth in Europe, with around 240,000 vehicles sold, which corresponds to a 12% increase in volume compared to 2015.

At the national level, the growth was even more expressive. Portugal recorded the highest growth in 2016 among national markets, with an increase of 80%, surpassing the markets of Italy (53%) and Ireland (35%). When it comes to the models themselves, SUVs remain the most popular models. The Mazda CX-5 was again the Japanese brand's most popular model on the old continent, followed by the more compact CX-3. Together, the two models accounted for almost half of the brand's sales volume.

NOT TO BE MISSED: Mazda says “no” to the RX-9. These are the reasons.

“When I look at these four consecutive years of strong growth, I think, above all, of the CX-5. He started the current generation of award-winning Mazda models by introducing SKYACTIV technology and the KODO design. It quickly became our best-selling model and still is, despite being currently the oldest offering in our current range.”

Martijn ten Brink, Vice President of Sales for Mazda Motor Europe

In 2017, Mazda will launch the new Mazda6 in January, followed by the new CX-5, Mazda3 and MX-5 RF.
