THE Kia EV6 it is the model that will “command” Kia's electric offensive in the coming years and we have already seen it live, at the national (static) presentation of the model.
We haven't been able to drive it yet, but we've already sat down inside it, admired its proportions and explored its cabin.
It's true that Kia already has two electric models (the e-Soul and the e-Niro), but this EV6 is the first to derive from the E-GMP, the specific platform for electrics, the same one we find, for example, in the IONIQ 5.
Live, the 4680 m long and 1880 m wide make one felt, with the EV6 presenting an even stronger presence than the images promised.
And if this is true for the exterior, marked by the distinctive LED luminous signature, the very low roof line and the heavily muscled shoulder line, it is also true for the passenger compartment.
Inside, the minimalist finishes, the very slim seats and the two screens for the digital instrument panel and the infotainment system stand out, which are mounted side by side and create a large horizontal panel.
Very airy and bright, it is in the rear seats that this cabin stands out most, due to the space it offers at the level of the legs.
However, the height for the head is not the most generous and if they are more than 1.85 m tall they can have an “immediate encounter” with the ceiling. Still, it's important to remember that the unit we sat in is still pre-production, and a modification to the final position of the rear seats is being considered.
The Kia EV6 is available with two battery sizes — 58 kWh and 77.4 kWh — both can be combined with rear-only drive (an electric motor mounted on the rear axle) or 4×4 drive (a second electric motor mounted on the rear axle). front axle).
Accessing the range there are 2WD (rear-wheel drive) versions with 170 hp or 229 hp (with standard or extra battery, respectively), while the EV6 AWD (all-wheel drive) have maximum outputs of 235 hp or 325 hp (and 605 Nm in the latter case).
The most powerful version of the range will be the GT, which is only available with the larger battery and offers 584 hp and 740 Nm obtained from two electric motors. Thanks to this, it will be the fastest Kia ever, as it “spends” just 3.5s in shooting from 0 to 100 km/h.

In Portugal
The EV6 range will consist of three versions: Air (with 58 kWh battery), GT-Line (77.4 kWh) and GT (4×4 and 77.4 kWh).
In the Air version, with rear-wheel drive and 58 kWh battery, Kia claims a WLTP cycle range of 400 km, a number that rises to 475 km in the GT-Line version with rear-wheel drive and 77.4 kWh battery.
The top-of-the-range version, the GT with a battery of 77.4 kWh and 4×4 traction, the Kia EV6 will be able to cover up to 510 km of autonomy on a single charge. All prices:

The EV6 is now available for pre-order in Portugal, but the first units will only arrive in late September or early October. The GT version will only arrive at the end of the first half of next year.
Kia Portugal opened online pre-bookings for the EV6 at the end of June, having already registered 30 signed orders (payment of two thousand euros).
Launch on Kia Vibe platform
The launch of the new Kia EV6 is also being marked by the international adoption of Kia Vibe, a digital platform developed by Kia Portugal that allows for personalized demonstrations from Kia Vibe studios.
