Audi engineers want the next SQ5 to be “tail happy”

That's right, you read well: an Audi SQ5 tail happy. Or if you prefer sobrevirador, which is as if to say: fun as hell!

According to Autocar, the Ingolstadt-based brand is taking the development of the next generation Audi SQ5 very seriously.

How seriously? Very seriously. They want to provide a rear differential and a specially tuned quattro system to give this sporty version of the new Q5 a more lively and fun handling. This new differential, together with suspensions and adaptive steering, should make the Audi SQ5 2017 a true «driver cars car» in SUV format.

Yes, it sounds weird. SUV, sports car, driver’s car… all in the same sentence?! Allegedly, the warranty was given by one of the Audi engineers responsible for developing the Audi SQ5 – and Autocar fonts are usually reliable.

As for engines, there is still no certainty. It is said that depending on the market the Audi SQ5 can be sold with diesel or petrol engines. In the case of the petrol version, the most obvious solution would be the adoption of the 3.0 liter V6 TFSI engine with 354 hp and 500Nm of maximum torque, already used in the Audi S5. As for the Diesel version, the doubts are greater, but a more vitamin-rich version of the 3.0 TDI engine with technology from the SQ7 is expected, in order to reach a power of around 340 hp and 700 Nm.
