Audi Mesarthim F-Tron Concept: nuclear powered

Does the futuristic and innovative project of Russian Grigory Gorin have legs to walk?

A super sports car with unlimited power but with virtually no environmental impact? It sounds like an idea out of the entrepreneurial mind of Elon Musk (owner of Tesla), but it isn't. The project belongs to Grigory Gorin, a Russian designer who wants to change the world – or at least the way current sports cars work.

The Audi Mesarthim F-Tron Concept is a futuristic-looking sports car powered by nuclear energy through a rather complex closed system that does not require any fuel or external charging sources.

The motorization works as follows: through the heat generated by the fusion reactor (associated with plasma injectors), a set of devices generate steam that makes a turbine move. In turn, the turbine is connected to a generator that charges the batteries, feeding the four electric motors located next to the wheels. The pendulums that help the acceleration are also responsible for supplying energy to the plasma injectors, while the condensers ensure that all the steam can be reused in a cyclic process.

But technological innovation does not stop there. For the vehicle's internal structure, Grigory Gorin developed a lightweight alloy monocoque chassis – nicknamed the “Solid Cage” – made with a 3D printer. In order to allow for the repair and maintenance of the engine, the Russian designer opted for a structure with detachable sections.

The chassis control is done through the Magnetic Hydro-Dynamic System, capable of creating a controlled downforce effect and distributing the vehicle's weight according to speed and driving mode. Through the magnetic fluid – stored in a tank at the base of the vehicle – which reacts with a special magnetic surface of the floor, the sports car has a better handling in corners.

There is no doubt that this is an innovative solution, but with the current financial, logistical and technological constraints in the sector, in the near future we are unlikely to see anything like the Audi Mesarthim F-Tron Concept reaching the production stage. Unfortunately…
