New BMW M8 for 2016?

Anonim

One of the rumors of the week is the arrival of a new model in the M division. In this case, we are talking about a (much anticipated) BMW M8, a supercar that will be built to celebrate the German brand's 100th anniversary – if it is released in 2016.

This rumor is no longer new, the more attentive will certainly remember that we reported this rumor in November of last year, however, it seems that there is now some more news on this subject.

BMW M8

Friedrich Nitschke, head of the M division, unveiled some more details of this new and ambitious project. In addition to what was already known, it is known that the M8 will share with the future i8 hybrid (scheduled for 2014) all components in aluminum and carbon fiber, however, the engines will be completely different. The i8 will come equipped with a 1.5 liter 3-cylinder block and an electric motor mounted on the front axle, which will give the car a combined power of 350 hp. In turn, the M8 is expected to come with a twin-turbo V8 engine ready to deliver 600 hp of power. Numbers that allow us to foresee a race from 0-100 km/h in the place of 3 seconds.

This M8 will also be considerably lighter than its V8 rivals (Ferrari 458 and Audi R8). But until 2016 arrives, it remains for us to continue to despair for more news about this successor to the M1…
