According to BMW Blog, the next BMW M5 is expected to follow in the footsteps of its rival Mercedes-AMG E63 and offer a four-wheel-drive version as an option.As would be expected in a sports model, the xDrive system will not offer a fixed power distribution of 50/50, the rear axle will always have primacy, except in situations of loss of traction. Franciscus van Meel, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW M Division, has a sui generis view of all-wheel drive, “we look at all-wheel-drive models as rear-wheel-drive models, only with even more traction”.

The BMW Blog also suggests that the M5 will keep the 4.4 liter turbo V8, in a version that should surpass 600hp of power. As for the box, the choice should fall on an automatic unit with a double clutch with 7 ratios. This promises…
