Sales leader in Europe when it comes to commercial vehicles, Renault makes its debut with a modern, comfortable and functional pick-up truck. This is the new Renault Alaskan.

Renault presented its first pick-up in Medellín, Colombia, the result of a partnership between the Daimler Group and the Renault-Nissan alliance – a platform that also integrates the new Nissan Navara and the future Mercedes-Benz pick-up. The choice of the South American continent for the world presentation was not innocent: this new model is part of the expansion strategy by the Renault group.

In fact, the new Renault Alaskan reveals the brand's ambition in the pick-up market worldwide, a segment that represents more than a third of light commercial vehicle registrations in the world, which translates into five million annual sales.

“This muscular pick-up truck allows us to respond to the demands of professionals and private customers wherever they are in the world. With the Alaskan, Renault takes a significant step towards becoming a leading player on a world scale in the light commercial vehicle market”.

Available in several versions – single, double cab, cab chassis, open box, short or long, and with narrow or wide bodies – the Renault Alaskan benefits from the brand's new visual language, which is materialized in a front grille with chrome edges, luminous signature with C-shaped LED daytime running lights and a more robust overall look with muscular lines.

Inside, the brand bet on a spacious and comfortable cabin, with heated and adjustable front seats, air conditioning with zone control and several storage compartments distributed throughout the vehicle. Furthermore, the usual infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen and navigation and connectivity systems could not be missing.

Under the bonnet, the Renault Alaskan is equipped (depending on the market) with a 2.5 liter petrol engine with 160 hp and a 2.3 liter diesel block, with 160 hp or 190 hp. The pick-up is available with a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission, as well as two-wheel (2WD) or four-wheel (4H and 4LO) transmissions.

Another of the great highlights of the first Renault pick-up is undoubtedly the reinforced chassis, designed for professional or leisure use, with a payload capacity of one ton and 3.5 tons of trailer. The new Renault Alaskan starts to be sold in Latin America this year and only later should reach the European market, with prices still to be revealed.
