Is it this one? Start of production of the Mercedes-AMG One aimed at 2022

Anonim

THE Mercedes-AMG One has already been seen in spy photos, has appeared on the Forza Horizon 5 and has even been conducted by Lewis Hamilton. Despite everything, the hybrid hypersport equipped with an engine “inherited” from the single-seaters of the AMG Formula 1 team has not yet started to be produced.

After a series of delays, many of them motivated by the difficulty in adapting the Formula 1 engine to “civil life”, the Mercedes-AMG One seems to have received the “green light” to start production.

As advance the British Autocar, the hypersports that will have as rivals models such as the Ferrari SF90 will start to be produced in 2022 — probably in the second half of the year.

what is already known

From what we could already see in the spy photos, there are already some certainties about the Mercedes-AMG One. One of them is that its lines will be very close to those of the Project One prototype.

The other is that the new hypercar will have a quadrangular steering wheel with lights on its top that let us know when it's time to change gears (as in Formula 1) and two large screens: one for infotainment and one for the dashboard.

In the mechanics chapter, we know that the Mercedes-AMG One uses a V6 with 1.6 l “imported” directly from Formula 1 — the same engine as the 2016 F1 W07 Hybrid — which are associated with four electric engines.

“Focused” interior, also inspired by the F1. The steering wheel is quadrangular with a series of lights at the top that let us know when to change gears, it also integrates several controls and we have paddles (somewhat small?) on the back to change gears.

A combination that will result in a maximum combined power of around 1000 hp that will allow you to reach over 350 km/h of top speed. Equipped with an eight-speed sequential manual gearbox, the Mercedes-AMG One should be able to travel 25 km in 100% electric mode.

Limited to 275 units — one of them destined for the national market — the Mercedes-AMG One has already seen all its units sold, despite each one costing an impressive 2.27 million euros.
