A fabulous 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail goes up for auction next month, January 17, 2014. The auction, titled Scottsdale Auctions 2014, will be held by auctioneer Gooding & Company in Scottsdale, USA.
The McLaren F1 GTR Longtail that will be up for auction (chassis no. 021R) was in the service of the Works BMW Motorsport Team, counting in its curriculum with two victories in Helsinki and Hockenheim in the 1997 FIA GT Championship and many other podiums, however it did not participate. in that year's 24 Hours of Le Mans. This 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail was from a private collection and has been properly restored by McLaren and maintained by Lanzante Ltd.
Seen by many as an example of unique design and racing technology at the time, the McLaren F1 GTR Longtail is enlivened by the well-known BMW 6.0 V12 engine, delivering 604 hp.
In the auction that will take place next month, it is expected to hear the "slam of the hammer" between $5,000,000 and $7,000,000 dollars (€3,649,635 to €5,107,625 euros) for the 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail. “relics” such as a 1985 Ferrari 288 GTO, a 1973 Alpine A110 1800 and a 1980 BMW M1, among many other high-value classic cars.
