Hot hatches are getting more powerful and the VW Golf R420 is proof of that: with 420 hp and all-wheel drive it will be the equivalent of a WRC for daily use. We want one now.
Here at Razão Automóvel, we love a powerful and versatile hot hatch and whenever we can, we get our hands on one. Everyday life is done with “tranquility” and adequate comfort, but “that road” will never be the same again, and soon in our country, where there are excellent roads to explore.
NOT TO BE MISSED: VW features 2.0 TDI with 270 hp
Volkswagen doesn't officially confirm it, but sources from our Car Magazine colleagues have confirmed that the VW Golf R420 will go into production and is scheduled to be presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015.
According to what has been found so far, the VW Golf R420 will be produced in Wolfsburg on the same production line as the regular VW Golf. It will not have limited production and, in addition to the insertion of aerodynamic appendages, a new spoiler and a more powerful set of brakes, it will be visually little different from the VW Golf R or GTI, in keeping with the brand's tradition.

The VW Golf R420 will debut the new 2-litre turbo engine already featured in the Audi TT Quattro Sport Concept. With 420hp of power and 450NM, this engine develops an impressive 210hp per liter.
