Icona Vulcano Titanium: more expensive than a Bugatti Chiron

The production version of the sports car with titanium bodywork is scheduled for presentation next September.

In three weeks time, the Italian brand Icona will present its first sports car, the Vulcano Titanium. After several years of being present at all kinds of international fairs, still in the development stage, the production version of the Italian sports car debuts at the Salon Privé Concours d'Elégance, an event that takes place in Oxfordshire, England, from 1 to September 3rd. So far, it is not known how many units will be produced, but everything indicates that each one will be on sale for the “modest” amount of 2.5 million euros, more than a Bugatti Chiron, the fastest production car on the planet.

But what makes this sport so special?

Since 2011, Icona has been working hard to create a super sports car that stands out for its dominant look and overwhelming power. Therefore, when it comes to design, the Italian brand was inspired by the Blackbird SR-71, the fastest plane in the world. In addition, the entire bodywork was made of titanium and carbon fiber, something unprecedented in the automotive industry.

Underneath this body is a 6.2 liter V8 block with 670 hp of power at 6,600 rpm and 840 Nm of torque, coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine was developed by Claudio Lombardi and Mario Cavagnero, two Italian engineers with many years of experience in motorsport. According to the brand, the benefits are equally surprising, but they do not reach the values achieved by Chiron. Even so, the Vulcano Titanium takes just 2.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, 8.8 seconds from 0 to 193 km/h and exceeds 350 km/h of top speed. Not bad… but we can't say the same for the price.
