Rumors pointing to a reissue of the 1967 Porsche 911 R were confirmed today. This new version of the 911 will be unveiled tomorrow in Geneva.

As we had previously reported, Porsche is preparing to return to its origins with a re-edition of the Porsche 911 R, a model that will be presented tomorrow in Geneva. A model designed for driving purists, which at the same time intends to honor the 40 years of the original 911 R, launched in 1967 – a model that will celebrate four decades next year.

Although it is based on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, aesthetically the Porsche 911 R has adopted a more discreet appearance by giving up the rear wing, common in models more focused on lap times. The "war" of the 911 R is not the lap times, it's driving sensations, so you don't need to have some aerodynamic appendages.

What the 911 R does not abdicate is power. The international press advances that the GT3 RS's atmospheric 4.0 liter engine transitions to the 911 R practically unchanged – 500hp of power! News? All this power will be transmitted to the rear wheels through a manual box – #savethemanuals. As for the performance… 3.8 seconds from 0 to 100km/h and 323 km/h of top speed!

The Porsche 911 R will be a special edition – rumors point to 500, 600 units – so you'd better call Stuttgart now. More details will be known tomorrow, during the presentation of the new model at the Geneva Motor Show, an event that you will be able to follow live here at Razão Automóvel.
