Chris Evans leaves Top Gear

The former Top Gear presenter could not have resisted criticism and thus left the program after one season.

The news was advanced by Chris Evans himself this afternoon, on his Twitter account. “I resign from Top Gear. I did my best but sometimes that's not enough. The team is brilliant, I wish them all the best”, commented the British presenter. Chris Evans, who signed a three-year contract with the BBC, will now receive just a third of the agreed amount. “I continue to be a huge fan of the show, as I have always been and always will be. Now I will focus on my radio show and the activities that it encompasses”, said the presenter.

The decision comes after the news that gave an account of the bad atmosphere that lived behind the scenes of the program, namely between Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc. Apparently, the American actor and presenter, who will have signed a contract of just one year, is already in negotiations for the extension of the link, and should be the replacement of Chris Evans as main presenter. The 24th season of Top Gear is already in pre-production phase, with recordings scheduled to start next September.
