The German brand announced today at the Detroit Motor Show the launch of the long-awaited Volkswagen CrossBlue. A kind of Volkswagen Golf XXL version and 7 seats. The sale is planned, for now, only for North America.

The Volkswagen CrossBlue is a 7-seater SUV that will do the honors of Volkswagen in the USA, in the important SUV market. Starting from the MQB platform – the same that is used in the Volkswagen Golf – the true versatility of this technical solution is proven. The design of the final version of the model, according to the brand, will be very close to the concept version, with the possibility of launching a crossover version still on the table.

If in terms of design the review has been good, in terms of space the Volkswagen CrossBlue will also not leave its credits in someone else's hands, offering seats for 7 occupants. As for the quality of construction and equipment, the Volkswagen CrossBlue is less ambitious, as it will be placed in the lower range of the Volkswagen Touareg.

As for engines, the offer will include the TSi blocks with 4 and 6 cylinders, with the diesel offer falling into the 4-cylinder TDI. It remains to be seen which motors will receive the plug-in system and consequently the help of the electric motors provided for this model.

The Volkswagen CrossBlue Concept is expected to be present again this year at the Detroit Motor Show.
