Experience is not lacking for the English, when it comes to small sports cars solely focused on driving pleasure. This is the case with the new Zenos E10, a machine that promises a lot of fun.
There are cars that are real grown-up toys, The Zenos E10 clearly belongs in that category. Despite not being a brand known to the general public, the founders of Zenos are very experienced people in the field. Anser Ali spent much of his career at Lotus Cars and Mark Edwards was the former CEO of Caterham.
Why did these 2 gentlemen decide to create another small sports brand?
The answer couldn't be simpler. Anser and Mark, two of those responsible for Caterham's presence on the tracks of the F1 World Cup, were faced with a disheartening phenomenon. The offer of cars for amateur drivers at controlled costs, with an interesting performance was very scarce, and their relationship with the brands was also very distant. The answer, they say, is the Zenos E10.
In terms of proportions, we speak clearly of a bolide inspired by the fundamentals of Lotus and Caterham. A small car, with a fleeting engine and owner of an outstanding agility.
The Zenos E10 is 3.80m long, 1.87m wide and 1.13m high and is proposed with an original Ford engine, with 2,000cc displacement, which produces 204 horsepower at 7200rpm and 210Nm of maximum torque at 6100rpm.
What for the 650kg of weight, makes the Zenos E10 a lightweight with a ratio of 300hp of power per ton. The full power transmission is provided by a 5-speed manual gearbox and, as an option, a 6-speed «close-ratio» gearbox. When it comes to performance, the Zenos E10 is capable of fulfilling 0 to 100km/h in just 4.5s, reaching a top speed of 217km/h. Speed that will be more than enough for most circuits where this little "terrible" will spend his life.
Suspension consists of Bilstein coilovers and braking is provided by 2-piston jaws and 285mm discs, all courtesy of Alcon.
The Zenos E10 is offered in the UK for £24,995, the equivalent of €30,586 (excluding taxes and legalization and transport charges). If you opt for the complete list of options, which only adds good things, such as the 6-speed gearbox, LSD, among others, the final price rises to £33,245, equivalent to €40,681. A bold proposal, no doubt.
