After unveiling the production version of the i3 city, BMW lets out new images of the exterior as well as the interior of its new hybrid flagship, the i8.
As with its two previous prototypes, the new images confirm that the production version will feature a door opening mechanism similar to that used by the McLaren MP4-12. As for the interior, BMW presents its new sports car with digital dials, a design similar to the rest of the range and bets on the presence of blue, characteristic of the Bávara subbrand. The good news is that the space freed up by the absence of a larger internal combustion engine allowed the brand's engineers to configure this coupé in a 2+2 format.
The BMW i8 will have two propellers, one with 1.5l, 3 cylinder turbo-compressed with 231 hp that will power the rear wheels, and another electric with 131 hp for the front wheels. The vitamin set this hybrid with about 360hp, enough power to take the i8 from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds and giving it a top speed in the order of 250 km/h.
If your pockets don't reach the estimated €120,000 that the new BMW i8 will cost, you can always buy a fully electric i3, with enough «ions» for 150 km/h and capable of fulfilling 100km/h in 7.2 seconds. The full load can reach up to 190 km. Prices? 38 €250 or €650 monthly. The brand foresees the launch of a version with range extender (300km) on gasoline in the months following the launch of the i3.
