Between the 17th and 19th of July, the Guarda Nacional Republicana will intensify its patrolling and support actions for road users, directing efforts to the most critical routes in its area of responsibility, in order to ensure travel in security for citizens moving to/from summer resorts and/or events of a different nature at this time of year.
During the three days of this 2nd phase of Operation Hermes, around 2834 soldiers, from the National Transit Unit and Territorial Commands will be engaged, who, in addition to preventive and supportive actions, will be particularly attentive to the risk behavior of the drivers who jeopardize road safety, namely: · Driving under the influence of alcohol and psychotropic substances; Speeding.

Failure to use seat belts and/or child restraint systems; · Improper use of mobile phones; · Dangerous overtaking maneuvers, changing direction, reversing the direction of travel, giving up passage and safety distance and · Driving without legal authorization.
Operation Hermes runs throughout the summer period, from July 3rd to August 30th. During this period, patrolling and support to road users are intensified at various stages.
