Owners of the BMW M5 Touring E61 can start rubbing their 'little hands' as G-Power baked a very special birthday cake to celebrate their 30th birthday. We advise that your «wishlist» is capable of undergoing changes after what you are going to read.
Well, we could start the sentence with a “brace yourself” Anglicism, because G-Power has unlocked an unprecedented level of power from the S85 block, present in the M5 Touring E61. The M5 Hurricane Touring is now capable of reaching a maximum (limited) speed of 362km/h, with accelerations from 0 to 100km/h, in 4.4s. And if that doesn't seem like anything special to you, stick with the times from 0 to 200km/h of 9.5s and 25.6s up to 300km/h!
How did G-Power get such a big deal?
The recipe was not very complex. For this 30th anniversary commemorative version, the M5 Hurricane RR Touring uses not one, but two(!) centrifugal type volumetric compressors, electronic reprogramming and, of course, the proper exhaust adjustment as only G-Power knows how to do. .
The results are indisputable. Numbers express magnitudes that require our brain to pause. It's nothing more, nothing less than 820 horsepower and 790Nm of maximum torque, ready to satisfy our deepest adrenaline needs.
To make things up, G-Power brought distinctive elements to the exterior. For example, the Silverstone RS wheels are 20 inches and are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 255/35ZR20 at the front and 285/30ZR20 at the rear. G-Power dynamically provided the M5 with fully customizable coilovers. There are so many adjustments in hardness and height that they rival those of a Chinese restaurant menu.
To put an end to all this uncontrolled parody (or not…) G-Power opted to equip the M5 Touring with 396mm discs at the front and 380mm at the rear. The jaws command respect: 6 pistons at the front and 4 at the rear. Capable of creating more than 1g of force in decelerations and if that's not enough there's an optional ceramic set, with the promise of reducing suspended weight by 50%.
Inside, the watchword for the decoration of this commemorative edition was “luxury with sporting refinement”. In other words, a combination of the best leather and Alcantara combined with carbon inserts. For those who don't live without technology around them, G-Power has endowed the M5 with an all-Apple infotainment system, complete with TV, iPads and iMac.
Prices for such an M5 are around €300,000 (in Germany). A high value, but that translates into a unique car that will make you forget the world around you and the family will love it. Or not…
