Honda NSX (Finally!) Revealed

Anonim

The wait has been long – some will say too long…– but the successor to the 1st generation Honda NSX has just been introduced. Developed in the American department of the Japanese brand, it is natural for us to attend its presentation at the Detroit Salon.

9-speed dual-clutch gearbox, twin-turbo V6 engine with over 550hp, three electric motors (two dedicated to the front axle) and another endless array of technological innovations that could fill a 100-page book. These are just some of the premises of the new Honda NSX, the successor of the model that in the 90's taught two or three “little things” to European and American manufacturers.

In this second life of the «Japanese Ferrari», the twin-turbo V6 engine appears associated with three electric motors: two in the front, responsible for the traction of the respective axle, and one in the rear (mounted between the gearbox and the engine) responsible for auxiliary combustion engine, entirely dedicated to rear-wheel drive.

Therefore, there is no mechanical link between the front axle, engine and rear axle. The management of the vector distribution of torque is left to an electronic brain that Honda calls the Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. Confused but certainly efficient.

Honda knows very well what is at stake, and after years and years of waiting, the most ardent lovers of the brand will not tolerate mistakes. That's why the new NSX comes equipped with a chassis built entirely in the finest materials, uses brakes with six-piston callipers (four on the rear wheels) and ceramic-carbo discs. Among other details that will be revealed shortly.
