On the occasion of Easter, the National Republican Guard intensifies, between 00:00 on the 2nd and 24:00 on the 5th of April, patrolling and inspection of highways, with particular emphasis on the most critical roads.

With the objective of combating road accidents, regulating traffic and guaranteeing support to all road users, the Guarda Nacional Republicana kicked off today with Operation Easter.

During the entire period of Operation Easter, around 4,500 military personnel from territorial commands and the National Transit Unit will be particularly attentive to the practice of the following infractions: lack of legal authorization to exercise driving; driving under the influence of alcohol and psychotropic substances; not using seat belts and/or child restraint systems; speeding; failure to comply with traffic rules (safety distance and concession of passage, overtaking maneuvers, change of direction and inversion of the direction of travel).

With a significant increase in road traffic and so that everyone can enjoy the season safely, the GNR advises: drivers should substantially reduce their speed when crossing localities, taking special care with vulnerable users (pedestrians and cyclists); with the increase in cyclist movements on our roads, it is important that drivers pay attention to their approach and passage; There is an increase in the number of victims among backseat passengers motivated by not using seat belts, which is why it is crucial to use them anywhere in the vehicles.
