Once again we report the sale of a piece of motor racing history, this time it is a very special feline that delighted European touring championship lovers during the 1980s. It's true, the magnificent Jaguar XJS TWR Group A, is for sale by JD Classics.
So far nothing special, whether it was the Jaguar XJS TWR Group A, with chassis number 005 driven by renowned drivers such as Tom Walkinshaw, founder of the TWR racing team, Win Percy, Armin Hahne, Jeff Allam, Ron Dickson and Martin Brundle.
The Jaguar XJS TWR Group A has a record that speaks for itself. Despite the history of little success between 82 and 83, where the XJS got top places in the qualifications, such domination of times was not reflected later in competition, where mechanical problems of different order persisted in keeping the Jaguar away from the triumphs.
But in 84, after an exhaustive review by TWR and with the help of Cosworth, the Jaguar XJS dominated the season with 7 victories which included several doubles. This Jaguar XJS TWR Group A is one of the last cars that officially competed for the main teams and that was fully restored in 1989 by TWR, to the competition specifications of the time. The car received another minor facelift in 2004 by Pearson Engineering and currently serves as a demo model.
