Georges Clemenceau already said – by the way he was a man full of virtues… – that in the world there are no irreplaceable ones. The BBC corroborates this thesis, and according to the Sunday Express newspaper, the station has already found a new team of presenters for TOP GEAR.
Leave Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond and enter Guy Martin, Jodie Kidd and Philip Glenister. According to the same publication, these names were mentioned by the producer of the program Andy Wilman, at a private lunch (but little…) with singer and car lover Jay Kay (Jamiroquai).
Who is this new trio?
Clarkson, May and Hammond will be missed by millions of viewers, no doubt about that. But it's very likely that the new TOP GEAR hosts have the potential to re-tie audiences to the show. Philip Glenister is an actor, best known for his role in the series 'Life on Mars', avowed car lover and currently hosts the 'For The Love Of Cars' show on Channel 4. If confirmed, he will be something of a substitute from Jeremy Clarkson. Not only because of their age, but also because of their posture, they will be responsible for making the bridge between the old and the new TOP GEAR.
Guy Martin and Jodie Kidd, in turn, will represent the change. Guy Martin is a living legend of two wheels, and one of the most recognizable and commercial faces of motorcycling in the world. The last but not the least, Jodie Kidd, a former British model. Jodie is known for being a true car fanatic and currently host of “The Classic Car Show”. In addition to being beautiful, she has already done car races and was even the fastest guest of the TOP GEAR in season 2, in the ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’ section, with a cannon time of 1 minute and 48 seconds.
Promise? The new format of the program is due to start in the spring of 2016. Until then, the BBC will broadcast the remaining episodes already recorded of TOP GEAR, without the studio part.
