McLaren has a lot of news in its forge. News that will make the brand's fans mouth water. With the announcement of the end of production of the 12C and the commercial assertion of the 650S, McLaren now announces a variant of the P1 focused on track-days. And finally the introduction of “baby” McLaren P13.

Decisions taken by McLaren, which culminate in excellent sales results, much higher than expected during the year 2013. With the necessary financial slack and after a lot of development work and maturation of its products, McLaren is now turning to the diversification of its offer, aiming the artillery at the competition, which for years underestimated the efforts of the English brand.

Like Ferrari, in its XX versions – Corse Clienti, McLaren will also soon have a track version of the P1 – still without official nomenclature revealed and of limited production. This more extreme version without road approval will only be available to McLaren P1 owners.

According to McLaren this more radical P1 will be more powerful and lighter than the road version, surpassing the 903 horsepower of the P1.

In a registration more aimed at the brand's regular customer, P13 will appear. Named last year as the “baby” McLaren, this model will establish itself as McLaren's access model. It will be the brand's cheapest model, with a more GT and Roadster-style configuration, as a «hair in the wind» version is also planned.

Based on the same type of construction as its brothers, carbon fiber will be the raw material of choice in the construction of the P13. For propulsion, the M383T block will continue to do the honors of the house. But on the P13 this engine will come with less power than on the 650S, around 450 horsepower is expected from the 3.8L V8.

According to McLaren CEO Ron Dennis, the P13 will be a pivotal model for the brand. P13 is responsible for achieving annual production of 4000 units. And McLaren doesn't do it for less, as the P13 will target the Porsche 911.

Winds of change are blowing for the British brand, which seems to have finally risen from the ashes to a more auspicious period. But will McLaren have what it takes to rival Porsche's offer in sports car access, and can the more radical P1 supplant the expected LaFerrari XX?
