Miguel Faísca starts defending the Nissan colors in the Blancpain Endurance Series.

Miguel Faísca, European champion in the GT Academy title, makes his debut this weekend with the white competition suit of Athletes Nismo – a title reserved for official Nissan drivers – as he participates in the first of the five races that make up the calendar of the Blancpain Endurance Series, one of the most prestigious international Gran Turismo competitions. The young national driver will defend the official Nissan colors, sharing the controls of a Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 in the Pro-Am category, with Russian Mark Shulzhitskiy and Japanese Katsumasa Chiyo.

The Autodromo de Monza will be the stage for the Blancpain Endurance Series season-opening race and Miguel Faísca doesn't deny that he is “eager to get on track. In addition to the enormous pride in being an official Nissan driver, I will have the privilege of competing in one of the most demanding and prestigious GT world championships”.

The Lisbon native will drive one of the two Nissan GT-Rs entered by the Nissan GT Academy Team RJN in the Pro-Am category, specifically the one with number 35, teaming up with Katsumasa Chiyo, a Japanese pilot with Super GT experience and former champion of F3 in his country and with Russian Mark Shulzhitskiy, winner of GT Academy Russia 2012.

As Miguel Faísca admits, the Monza race “will be anything but easy. More than 40 cars will be on the track, with some of the best drivers in the world in the category. I want to learn as much as possible and walk as fast as I can, in the certainty that I will compete with much more experienced opponents. A few months ago I was limited to racing on PlayStation, but now I have the privilege of defending Nissan's colors in a project as challenging as this one. I confess that I'm living a dream, but I'm going to try to manage all the emotions, bearing in mind the enormous responsibility I have ahead”.

In Monza, a total of 44 teams will be in action, some made up of ex-Formula 1 drivers, representing brands such as Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lamborguini, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. Tomorrow, Friday (April 11), is reserved for free practice, Saturday for qualifying and the race is scheduled for 13:45 on Sunday, with a duration of three hours.
