Porsche suspends deliveries of 911 GT3 after fire in five units

Porsche has put a brake on the delivery of the new 911 (991) GT3 due to the fact that five units of this model have burned down over the past few weeks.

After being presented at the last edition of the Geneva Motor Show, there has been much praise for the Porsche 911 GT3. A machine that has the track as its “natural habitat”. Environment where its 3.8 engine with 475 HP is capable of an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. It is, therefore, an authentic “infernal” machine. Unfortunately it seems that the infernal expression became too literal when five units of this version of the acclaimed sports car from Stuttgart caught fire for as-yet-unknown causes.

Incident in Switzerland stopped deliveries

The last incident took place in St. Gallen, Wilerstrasse, Switzerland. The owner started by hearing abnormal noises coming from the engine area. Then, and after having stopped the car already off the highway where it was going, noticed an oil leak followed by a cloud of smoke , which later resulted in the start of a fire. When firefighters arrived at the scene, there was no longer any possible rescue for the now “scorched” Porsche 911 GT3.

This was one of the five specimens that met their premature end in flames. Like another fire that took place in Italy, the owner of a Porsche 911 GT3 started by noticing the low oil pressure , which ended up also resulting in the start of a fire, in the engine zone. We confess that it costs us less to see fires of this kind.

Porsche is already investigating the causes of these incidents. What will be the source of the problem? Leave us your opinion here and on our social networks.
