It's been a couple of years since the last Gymkhana, so this new one gymkhana 10 it would have to be something special… and bigger. It's 19 minutes of video that follows Ken Block through five locations and five different cars, or five ways to destroy tires more effectively than eliminating a pest.
Gymkhana 10 starts by transporting us to Sweden, to the town of Lulea Norrbotten, on a blanket of snow; then we move to one of the world's automobile capitals, Detroit, USA; a new change of scenery for the locality of Guanajuato, Mexico; and return to the USA, first in Los Angeles and, finally, the legendary Route 66, in Shamrock, Texas.
The machines don't disappoint… yes, they're all Fords, obviously. THE Fiesta WRC 2018 it is the first to show its face on snow in Sweden, and it is also the most “modest” in terms of firepower: the four-cylinder in-line turbo with 1.6 l delivers 380 hp.
In Detroit, a much more serious machine, the Hoonicorn V2 , based on a 1965 Ford Mustang, which from Mustang appears to have very little. Under the bonnet is a fire-breather with a 6.7 V8 twin turbo with… 1400 hp! It is the most powerful of all used mechanical "monsters".
In this picturesque Mexican town, the Focus RS RX 2017, maybe an extra size for the narrow streets where all the action takes place. Rallycross cars were never shy in equines and the 650 hp extracted from the 2.0l turbo block demonstrates this.
In an industrial area of Los Angeles, perhaps the highlight of Gymkhana 10 appears, with Ken Block at the wheel of a Escort Cosworth , 2.0 l and… 645 hp. Why is this the highlight? “Spoiler alert”: have you seen the cover image? — sparks, sparks everywhere…
Finally, it appears for the first time in a Gymkhana the Hoonitruck , on Route 66, which started as a much more modest 1977 Ford F-150. Now, it has nothing modest, becoming a tire devouring monster with 914 hp extracted from a 3.5 V6 twin turbo…
“The Ultimate Tire Slaying Tour” turns out to be the ideal title for Gymkhana 10. For 19 minutes it is effectively a festival of burning rubber to its destruction!
