After months of speculation, the first images of Volvo's new whooping cough finally emerge.
Before writing even one more line, I have to make a declaration of interests: I am passionate about Volvo. And as passionate as I am, I was eager to know what the Swedish brand had in store for me. Sorry… for us!
As has been customary in his latest creations, it seems that the Swedish designers are back to getting the formula right. Although the design is a little subjective, all the lines of the new V40 seem to me to be in line with the brand's DNA and with what are the contemporary trends in car design. Perhaps there was an excess in the accent on the creases on the bonnet, or on the bulge next to the rear side window. But in the end, it's these “rips” of irreverence that make the difference to the design of the more mature V60.
The back is, once again, where the heads of the Swedish house are most trying to innovate. It is worth noting an ascending line that runs throughout the body, from the front wheel arch to the rear bumper, well achieved and intended to give a more dynamic profile to the whole. In the lighthouses, we see “family air” in the way chosen for them. There is also a note to remember the old V40 series, which at the time was considered the most beautiful van in the world by some specialist magazines, and which is the black “mascara” under the rear window.
