ACAP holds Government responsible 32405_1
In a statement released on December 6th, the Automobile Association of Portugal (ACAP) states that “it cannot fail to hold the Government accountable for further aggravating the situation in the automobile market in 2012”. The reasons for these statements are due to the State Budget for 2012, which heavily penalizes the Automotive Sector and, in particular, the commercial vehicle segment.

As soon as they learned about the Budget Proposal for next year, ACAP sent to the Government several counter-proposals that would guarantee tax revenue and would not penalize companies in the Sector.

But according to ACAP, "the Government adopted a posture of total insensitivity to the proposals that we presented and maintained the fiscal aggravations of its initial Budget Proposal".

The approved budget defines an average increase in ISV of 76.1%. If we don't see, in two-seater commercial vehicles the aggravation is 91%, in the pick-up with double cabin, and four-wheel drive, the aggravation is 75% and on the other hand, there are commercial vehicles in the category of vans (many of them produced in Portugal) that were exempt from Tax and will also be taxed.

For 2012, ACAP “will monitor the situation of companies in the sector, in order to make public the number of companies that will close. On the other hand, it will assess the evolution of ISV revenue as, necessarily, with the measures now approved, the Government will not be able to reach the amount provided for in the Budget Law.”
