Air-Free is the latest innovation in the pneumatic world, this technology uses thermoplastic resin as a supporting structure instead of air. Confused? We explain…

Traditional tires are filled with air to be able to support the weight of a car or a motorcycle, right? Not these! Instead of air they use thermoplastic resin, which is distributed in 45 degree strips. The secret of the structure is the combination of the straps to both the left and the right, giving rise to this psychedelic look. Thermoplastic resin is reusable, which means that tires can be easily recycled, thus making them sustainable.

But don't think that Air-Free is more fragile than conventional tires, on the contrary, there was a gain in resistance, stability and flexibility. In addition to all these improvements, you will no longer have to worry about the air pressure in the tires or the punctures that cause so many headaches. Therefore, car safety takes a huge leap forward with the implementation of this new technology.

Bridgestone is already carrying out the first tests in Japan with small vehicles, and it is also known that Michelin is developing a similar solution, the Tweel, which thus confirms the real interest of the industry in the sector in this solution .
