Based on the platform of the newly launched XC90 generation, the Volvo S90 is expected to share engines and transmission with the Swedish SUV.

Volvo's new luxury saloon has finally been unveiled. The Volvo S90 is Volvo's answer to the saloon segment and it intends to affirm the Swedish brand, which has been standing out for the production of vans and SUVs.

The highlight goes to technological evolution as an ally of safety on board and comfort for the driver. The Volvo S90 will be available with a semi-autonomous driving support unit, the Pilot Assist system. This system allows the car to be kept in line with the road markings, on the motorway and up to speeds of around 130 km/h, no longer having to follow the car in front.

The Volvo S90 also introduces a world innovation to the well-known City Safety system: it now also automatically brakes in the presence of large animals, night and day, preventing collision.

The interior also has a large screen similar to the one found in the Volvo XC90, among other technologies, we highlight the offer of online applications and services based on the Cloud.

In the field of dimensions, we find 4.96 meters in length, a wheelbase of 2.94 meters and width of 1.89 meters.

“Our intention was to innovate in a very conservative segment with a proposal with a strong visual expression, which exudes leadership and confidence abroad. Inside, we've catapulted the new S90 to a new level by delivering a luxury experience that promises control, innovation and comfort,” said Thomas Ingenlath, senior vice president for design at the Volvo Car Group.

The Volvo S90 will be publicly unveiled at the NAIAS in Detroit. Until then, details about the engines should appear.
