This season, the Le Mans Series European Championship brings us some surprises, both from the teams and drivers, as well as from the machines.
The European Le Mans Series is one of the most competitive endurance championships in the world. With the pre-season tests already on the 1st and 2nd of April, at the Paul Ricard circuit, the entire squad is preparing for the inaugural round of the championship, at the Silverstone circuit, on the 18th and 19th of April. The Estoril Circuit has the honor of closing the championship, on the 18th and 19th of October.
The big news in this edition of the European Le Mans Series is the presence of the Portuguese driver, Filipe Albuquerque, at the controls of the Audi R18 e-tron, from the Audi Sport Team Joest team. Also note the presence of Sebastien Loeb in the LMP2 class, with the Sebastien Loeb Racing Oreca team.
The Nissan ZEOD RC will also make its appearance, although it is registered in reservations.
In the LMP2 class, Nissan/Nismo mechanics, with the VK45DE atmospheric block, are the choice of most teams. Weighing only 144kg, this engine gives us 460 horsepower and 570Nm of maximum torque. Recognized for its reliability, this engine was chosen to power almost all LMP2 class cars.
Ligier also marks its return, supported by the TDS Racing team. In the GT classes, the fight will be interesting between the models Ferrari 458 Italia, Corvette C7, Aston Martin Vantage V8 and finally the always competitive Porsche 911 RSR.
