The decision came after Sébastien Ogier confirmed suspicions that had long indicated that he would be leaving the team, after a year in which results fell short of his expectations.

According to Citroën Racing, which for 2020 had Ogier/Ingrassia and Lappi/Ferm in its ranks, the Frenchman's departure and the lack of a top driver available to take his place next season led to this decision.
