The ultimate Suzuki Jimny will have to be this one with gantry axles

Anonim

It may be very small, but the Suzuki Jimny's climbing abilities are… big, making many others “blush with envy” bigger and stronger.

As with other “pure and tough” all-terrain vehicles, the Jimny's climbing abilities can be further increased with the right hardware and that's exactly what Swiss-made Avus Auto proposes, giving the mini-jeep gantry axles.

The gantry axles cause the transmission axle to be positioned above the center of the wheel, being joined by gears, which translates into a distance to the ground far greater than that of the production model.

In the case of this Suzuki Jimny, it practically doubles it, going from the standard 21 cm to 40 cm, although the larger wheels — 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires — may also have contributed to that “leap”.

The end result seems to be that of a Jimny ready to face the «end of the world», with Avus Auto joining the better known Delta4x4 in creating a small series of 12 units of these Suzuki Jimny with gantry axles.

The Delta4x4 complements Avus Auto's additions not only with the installation of the larger wheels already mentioned, but also with the installation of flared mudguards. Future owners can even opt for a stainless steel winch or cowshed at the front.

More important are the modifications made to the suspension, which was raised by 40 mm and is now equipped with adjustable shock absorbers with remote reservoirs. As an option, lockable differentials are also available for both axes.

It is not cheap

Considering the equipment installed, it's no wonder that one of these 12 Suzuki Jimnys is much more expensive than the original. But even so, the starting price of 56 thousand euros is surprising, more than double the standard model. Adding options such as the winch or the lockable differentials makes the value grow up to 65,000 euros.
