What if the Nissan Ariya were a Formula E-inspired single-seater?

The Ariya is Nissan's first 100% electric crossover, which arrives on the Portuguese market in 2022. But from now on it is also the name of a Single Seater Concept (single seater) inspired by the Formula E single seaters.

Presented at the Nissan Futures Event, this prototype uses the same electrical system that equips the Japanese brand's crossover, although Nissan does not specify which version.

However, let's assume that, like the Formula E, it has only one drive shaft, so it can use the Ariya's 178 kW (242 hp) and 300 Nm electric motor, associated with an 87 kWh battery. With a much smaller mass (just over 900 kg in a Formula E), it should guarantee respectable performance numbers.

As for the design, it's a mix between the lines of the single-seater that the Japanese manufacturer runs on the ABB FIA Formula E and the Nissan Ariya, the electric crossover that Guilherme Costa has already been to meet live.

With a very slender body (in carbon fiber), which Nissan says "looks like it was sculpted by the wind", the Ariya Single Seater Concept stands out for its very dynamic lines and for keeping the already traditional V signature at the front. , which appears illuminated here.

In addition to that, it has an exposed front suspension scheme, with wheel covers for better aerodynamic performance and the familiar halo of competition single-seaters.

At the presentation, Juan Manuel Hoyos, Nissan's general director of global marketing, acknowledged the irreverence of this model and stated that "at Nissan, we dare to do what others don't."

But he also explained the objective behind the creation of this project: “With this prototype we want to show the performance potential of the Ariya's drive system in a package inspired by motorsports”.
