Is Renault preparing a rival for the 2008 Peugeot electric?

Anonim

It seems that Renault's electric range will grow this year with the arrival of an electric crossover designed to compete with the Peugeot e-2008 and DS 3 Crossback E-TENSE.

The news is being put forward by the French website L'argus, and realizes that the Gallic brand is preparing to unveil an electric crossover even before the end of 2020 (the idea would be to reveal it at the Paris Motor Show if this happens). had not been cancelled).

Still without an official designation, this model should be positioned above the Zoe, but below a second electric SUV that should arrive a little later and whose dimensions will be similar to those of the Kadjar.

In other words, if the arrival of this electric crossover is confirmed (whose launch will only take place in 2021), this will be a kind of “Electric Captur”, assuming a similar relationship between Zoe and Clio.

What is already known?

For now, very little is known. According to L’argus' Frenchmen, this electric crossover should be based on the new CMF-EV platform, which was debuted by the Renault Morphoz concept, a solution similar to Volkswagen's MEB.

Speaking of which, the styling of the new electric crossover is likely to be influenced by what we could see in the prototype unveiled a few months ago, which we should have known in Geneva.

Finally, a note on the autonomy values estimated by L’argus. According to this publication, the autonomy of the new Renault tram should be between 550 and 600 km.

Renault Morphoz
It seems that Renault's new electric crossover should inspire its styling in the Morphoz prototype.

Without any kind of official confirmation from the French brand, we cannot help but consider this very optimistic value, especially if we take into account the commercial positioning of the model and the cost associated with the batteries.
