Peugeot 205 with only 65 km sold, without ever having been registered

We have often given you millionaire sales of very rare models or with a vast competition curriculum. But this Peugeot 205 from 1990 that we bring you here doesn't need any of that to be considered an authentic unicorn.

Because despite being 31 years old and not even the most special GTI — it's a more modest 205 1.1 Style —, it was never registered and only adds 65 km on the odometer, characteristics that made it recently auctioned on the Benzin portal for 13 700 euros.

It is a real time capsule and is in a virtually immaculate state. But after all why was it all these years stopped?

The story is simple, but curious: this 205 Style with 1.1 engine (range access engine), was acquired in 1990 — it's already the post-upgrade version — by a Peugeot dealership in the Emilia-Romagna region, in the northern Italy, which decided never to use it or register it.

And it stayed that way until the spring of this year, when it was sold to a private individual, who has now sold it at auction, predictably at a high profit.

The paint job is original, as are all the plastics on the outside, the 13” wheels or even… the tyres. Inside, the same story: there is no sign of wear and tear to show that this is a model with three decades of life.

As for the engine, it is a four-cylinder block with 1.1 l, with just 54 hp of power and 88 Nm of maximum torque, sent exclusively to the two wheels of the front axle through a manual five-speed gearbox.

And this engine, which needed 14.6 seconds to propel the 780 kg of the Peugeot 205 from 0 to 100 km/h, also had a carburetor. There wasn't even room for electronic injection.

But not all this simplicity robbed this copy of the spotlight, which is quite capable of being one of the 205 with less mileage in the world. And that, in itself, helps to explain the more than 13 000 euros that "added" at auction.
