Project P54. Apparently, Peugeot is preparing an SUV-Coupé based on the 308

It all started because of a photo. Although Peugeot has not yet officially confirmed that it is preparing an SUV-Coupé based on the 308, a photo of the Peugeot development team at the Mulhouse factory along with the first prototype of the P54 project seems to confirm that hypothesis.

For now, it is not known how this rival of the Renault Arkana will be known. There are so many rumors that it could be called Peugeot 308 Cross as 4008, a designation that the French brand has used in the past on an SUV derived from the Mitsubishi ASX and which is still used today in China, where the 3008 is known as the 4008.

What seems certain is that it will use the EMP2 platform, the same one already used not only by the 308 but also by the 3008 and 5008. As for its revelation, this should take place in the summer of 2022, with its arrival on the market to follow at the end of the year.

What to expect from the Peugeot 4008

Although Peugeot has not confirmed it, the SUV-Coupé of the Gallic brand is already causing several rumors. For example, according to the Spaniards of Diario Motor, the new 4008 should be 4.70 m long, a value that would make it larger than the 3008 (measures 4.45 m) and the 5008 (4.64 m). ).

As for the mechanics that should animate this new proposal from Peugeot, the most likely is that the 4008 (or 308 Cross) will have the 1.2 Puretech three-cylinder in the 130 and 155 hp versions, the 1.5 BlueHDI 130 hp and still with the “mandatory” plug-in hybrid versions, not only with 180 and 225 hp as in the 308 as well as the already known 300 hp variant of the 3008 HYBRID4.
