Porsche's rival? It is the ambition of the CEO of the Swedish brand

The main focus of Polestar It may even be decarbonising — the brand wants to create the first carbon-zero car by 2030 — but the young Scandinavian brand doesn't forget the competition and Porsche is seen, apparently, as the future main rival in Polestar's hosts.

The revelation was made by the executive director of the brand, Thomas Ingenlath, in an interview with the Germans from Auto Motor Und Sport in which he “opened the game” about the future of Polestar.

When asked where he imagines the brand could be in five years from now, Ingenlath began by saying: “until that time our range will include five models” and added that he hopes to be closer to reaching the carbon neutral goal.

However, it was the brand introduced by Thomas Ingenlath as Polestar's “rival” that ended up surprising. According to the executive director of Polestar, five years from now the Scandinavian brand intends to “compete with Porsche to offer the best premium electric sports car“.

the other rivals

Polestar, of course, will not only have Porsche as a rival. Among the premium brands, we have electric models like the BMW i4 or the Tesla Model 3, which stand out as the main rivals of the brand's first 100% electric model, the Polestar 2.

Despite the “weight” of the two brands in the market, Thomas Ingenlath is confident in Polestar's potential. On Tesla, Ingenlath starts by assuming that as CEO he can learn from Elon Musk (both about what to do and what not to do).

Polestar range
The Polestar range will feature three more models.

As for the products of both brands, the executive director of Polestar is not modest, saying: “I think our design is better because we seem more independent, with more personality. The HMI interface is better because it is more intuitive to use. And with our experience, we are very good at producing high quality cars.”

As for BMW and its i4, Ingenlath dispels any fear of the Bavarian brand, saying: “We have been winning over customers, especially in the premium segment. Many conductors of combustion models will switch to an electric one in the near future. This opens up new perspectives for our brand”.
