The news was released by Automotive News Europe and confirmed what we told you about a year ago: the Citroen C4 Cactus it will even have a successor and this one will have an unprecedented electric version.
Confirmation of the successor of the C4 Cactus was made by the CEO of Citroën, Linda Jackson, in an interview. However, it is not yet known when it will be revealed or when it will go into production.
Another unknown is the name. For now, it remains to be seen whether the successor to the C4 Cactus will keep the name “Cactus” or whether it will simply be known as “C4” — with the restyling, the C4 Cactus was repositioned, also taking over the position previously occupied by the C4.
Given the current organization of the Citroën range, the name “Cactus” is more likely to disappear with the model that debuted it (and the only one that used it).
what we already know

In addition to the already confirmed 100% electric version, which is part of an electrification strategy with which Citroën intends, by 2025, to have electrified versions — between plug-in and electric hybrids — of all its models, it is already known that the future model will use the CMP platform, the same as the Peugeot 208, Opel Corsa, Peugeot 2008 and DS 3 Crossback.
Basically, what Citroën is preparing to do is what Skoda did with the Scala: to develop a C-segment model based on a platform used by B-segment models.
In fact, this strategy is nothing new at Citroën, as the current C4 Cactus uses a platform also used in the B segment, in this case the PF1, the same as the current generation of the C3.
Successor to C5 also on the way
In addition to confirming plans for a successor to the C4 Cactus, Linda Jackson also revealed that Citroën plans to release a replacement for the C5.
According to Linda Jackson, CEO of Citroën at the time, the successor to the C5 should be based on the CXperience prototype.
Expected to arrive after the launch of the new C4, according to the CEO of Citroën, this model should be inspired by the CXperience prototype unveiled in 2016.
