The saying goes, times change, wills change. Porsche's first 100% electric model, the Taykan it has been a serious success story and sales in the first nine months of 2021 prove it.

Between January and September this year, the Stuttgart brand sold a total of 28,640 Taycan units, numbers that make the electric model the best-selling brand among the brand's “non-SUVs”.

In the same period of time, the iconic 911 was sold for 27 972 units and the Panamera (the internal “rival” of the Taycan with a combustion engine) saw the sale of 20 275 units. The 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster, together, did not go beyond 15 916 units.

SUV continue to reign

Although impressive, the numbers presented by Taycan are still modest when compared to the sales of the two best sellers by Porsche: the Cayenne and the Macan.

The first saw 62 451 units being sold in the first nine months of the year. The second was not far behind, with 61 944 units.

Regarding these numbers, Detlev von Platen, member of the Executive Board of Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, said: “Demand for our models remained high in the third quarter and we are delighted that we were able to deliver so many cars to customers. during the first nine months of the year”.
