Cold Start. You don't get it wrong, the Subaru Forester was also a Chevrolet

Along with Impreza and Outback, the Subaru Forester is one of the best known models of the Japanese brand. However, even the fact that it was easily recognized as a Subaru product did not stop the birth of the Chevrolet Forester.

Nothing less than a second-generation Forester with the Chevrolet logo, this model was born after GM (owner of Chevrolet) bought 20.1% of Fuji Heavy Industries (then owner of Subaru) in 1999.

For some reason the American giant decided that the ideal car to sell in the Indian market was the Subaru Forester with the Chevrolet logo and, taking advantage of that business, created the Chevrolet Forester. In 2005, GM's sale of all the shares it had in Fuji Heavy Industries spelled its end.

If you remember, there are several cases of this type of badge engineering, one of them being the practically unknown “Mazda Jimny” (officially called Mazda AZ-Offroad).
