It seems that the bet on the purchase of new speed control radars is to maintain and the Government is already “accounting for” the additional revenue that they will generate when they are active.

At least that's what the estimate pointed out by the executive suggests, forecasting that the acquisition of new radars planned for 2022 will have a positive impact on revenues of around 13 million euros.

In addition to the revenue generated by the new radars, the Government also plans to save 2.4 million euros through the development of the Traffic Administrative Offenses System (SCOT+), a system that aims to dematerialize the administrative proceedings.

The investment in information and communication technology systems planned for the year 2022 will lead to a very significant increase in revenue, essentially through the expansion of the National Network for Automatic Speed Inspection (SINCRO), through the acquisition of new radars, which will have an impact on revenue of around 13 million euros.

Supervising is the watchword

Still in the field of road safety, António Costa's executive refers that he wants to reinforce “the inspection of the safety conditions of infrastructures and speed violations, through the expansion of the National Network for Automatic Speed Inspection”.

Another of the Government's goals is to "increase the sector's efficiency, namely in the survey of the occurrence of road accidents, in the administrative proceedings" and also by continuing to invest in the execution of the "National Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030 — Vision Zero 2030" .

Based on "the safe transport system and zero vision as fundamental structuring axes of the objectives and measures to prevent and combat accidents in the road network to be established and implemented", according to the Government, this strategy "is in line with European and road safety, with priority being given to the use of public transport and forms of sustainable mobility in urban areas”.
