The right “monster” for Halloween? Maybe this Buick Wagonmaster with four V8

Anonim

Another year, another Halloween to celebrate. With the arrival of this date here in the newsroom of Razão Automóvel, the question that arose was: which would be the ideal car for this day? After much discussion and some research the Buick Wagonmaster by TV Tommy Ivo that we spoke to you today turned out to be a serious candidate.

Created by TV Tommy Ivo, one of the most famous names in the Hot Rod world, this "thing" is an authentic "Frankenstein", owing its origins to a dragster known as Showboat, created in 1961.

Debuted on the San Fernando Drag Strip on July 23, 1961, 20 years later, Showboat eventually became the Buick Wagonmaster.

One, two three, four engines

Animating this authentic “monster” we find not one, not two, not even three, but four V8 Buick Nailhead with 6.5 l capacity each. Two send the power to the front wheels while the other two "animate" the rear wheels, ensuring this dragster all-wheel drive.

The power values are not known, but in production cars, this V8 came to produce 330 hp, so multiplying that value by four, it's at least 1320 hp!

Still about the history of this dragster, the last competition he participated in dates back to 1982, in 1996 he made an appearance at “Goodguys Nostalgia National” at “Indianapolis Raceway Park” and in September 2012 he was the protagonist of an edition of the “Hot Rod” magazine Deluxe”.

Nor do we want to imagine how much it costs to "power" these four V8s.

Now, this dragster with chrome exhausts and… parachute is “looking for a new owner”. It will be auctioned by Mecum Auctions in January next year at the Kissimmee auction.

As for its price, no bidding base has been defined, so we ask you: how much would you give for this Buick Wagonmaster by TV Tommy Ivo?
