What if Tesla launched a chain of restaurants with superchargers?

By now, we're used to Tesla — and Elon Musk in general — coming up with different, innovative and almost always “out of the box” ideas. One of the last was a tequila that ran out in a flash. Now, Tesla's next “next big idea” could be a restaurant chain.

Yes that's right. On May 27th, Tesla filed, in the United States (USA), a patent application to use its logo and name in the food industry.

So far everything is normal, as car manufacturers are constantly registering patents, names and ideas in order to protect their intellectual property. However, in this particular case, there are elements that lead us to believe that Tesla may actually be planning to open restaurants.

tesla chargers
A private network that works and continues to grow.

The first “signal” was given by Elon Musk himself (Tesla's executive director and “technoking”), in 2018, when he wrote on his official Twitter account: “I'm going to put an old drive-in, roller skates and a rock restaurant in a of the new Tesla Superchargers locations in Los Angeles,” said Musk.

The vast network of own chargers is one of Tesla's greatest assets and there are many charging stations located in hotels and restaurants. Moving forward to creating its own restaurants, Tesla would be able to control and sell the entire experience, from loading to meal.

This is a complex “puzzle”, there is no doubt about it, but the truth is that there are several pieces that fit together: in addition to everything mentioned above, one of Elon Musk's brothers, Kimbal Musk, is co -founder of Kitchen Restaurant Group, a chain of restaurants with establishments in several US states.

It remains to be seen whether this Tesla idea — and which Musk seems to be enthusiastic about — will ever get off the ground. But the idea of eating a teslaburger while the car is charging doesn't seem so bad, right?
