Do you know why this BMW M3 (E93) engine replaced its V8?

After a while ago we talked to you about a BMW M3 (E46) that featured the famous 2JZ-GTE from Supra, today we bring you another M3 that abdicated its “German heart”.

The example in question belongs to the E93 generation, and when its V8 with 4.0 l and 420 hp (the S65) broke down, it replaced it with another V8, but with Italian origins.

The chosen one was the F136, known as the Ferrari-Maserati engine, and used by models such as the Maserati Coupe and Spyder or the Ferrari 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale.

A project under construction

According to the video, this particular engine delivers 300 hp (power to the wheels). A value lower than the original engine of the M3 (E93) and much less than it is capable of delivering (even in the less powerful version it delivered 390 hp), but there is a reason.

According to the owner, this is due to the fact that the engine still needs some adjustments (as does the entire project) and that, at the moment, it is programmed with a mode that ensures more reliability in exchange for (some) power .

Going forward, the owner of what is most likely the only Ferrari-powered BMW M3 (E93) in the world plans to install two turbos.

A look to match

As if having a Ferrari engine weren't enough, this BMW M3 (E93) was also painted with a shade of gray used by Porsche.

In addition to this, he received a body kit from Pandem, new wheels and saw the retractable roof welded together so that this M3 was transformed into a coupé for good.

Finally, inside, the main highlight is even the steering wheel cut at the top, reminiscent of the steering wheel used by the famous KITT from the “The Punisher” series.
