Inaugurated on August 6, 1966, the 25 de Abril bridge sees its approximately 2 km long being traversed daily by thousands of conductors who travel between Lisbon and the South Bank.
In order to ensure that the bridge that crosses the Tagus continues to perform perfectly the function for which “Infraestruturas de Portugal” was conceived, it announced that on the morning of 10 and 31 October (both Sundays) the bridge will be subject to conservation work .
To this end, at dawn on these two days, the bridge will be closed to road traffic, with the traffic cut-off starting at 00:00 and ending at 07:00. The train crossing should not suffer any disturbances.
The alternative
As an alternative to the 25 de Abril bridge, “Infraestruturas de Portugal” points out, as usual in these cases, the Vasco da Gama bridge.
In the same statement in which it announced the closure of the bridge to road traffic, it can be read that “Infraestruturas de Portugal thanks you for a better understanding of the inconveniences and inconveniences that this situation causes, in the certainty that we are contributing to the improvement of safety conditions. infrastructure users”.
