Presented over half a year ago at the Shanghai Motor Show, the new Mercedes-Benz EQB has now seen the unveiled of the technical features for the European market.

We recall that when the EQB was presented to Mercedes-Benz it limited itself to advancing the specifications of the version for the Chinese market, keeping the data of the European versions “in secret”.

Thus, the “European” EQB will initially be available in two versions: EQB 300 4MATIC and EQB 350 4MATIC. As with the 'brother' GLB combustion, it is also available with seven seats.

As you would expect, visually the European and Chinese versions are identical, with the differences being reserved at the cinematic chain level.

The EQB numbers

As the “4MATIC” designation “denounces”, both versions of the EQB announced for Europe have all-wheel drive, thanks to the use of two electric motors, one on each axle.

In the Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC they debit a total of 168 kW (228 hp) and 390 Nm, figures that allow it to reach 0 to 100 km/h in 8s and reach 160 km/h of maximum speed (limited, such as is usual on electric models).

In the top version, 350 4MATIC, the EQB has 215 kW (292 hp) and 520 Nm, values that allow the most familiar Mercedes-Benz electric SUV to fulfill 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.2s and reach the same 160 km/h top speed.

Common to both versions is the battery with 66.5 kWh of usable capacity, the combined energy consumption of 18.1 kWh/100 km (WLTP) and the advertised range of 419 km.

Finally, with regard to charging, the EQB can be charged either at home (AC or alternating current) with a power of up to 11 kW, or at high speed stations (DC or direct current) with a power of up to 100 kW. In these cases, it is possible to charge between 10% and 80% in just 30 minutes and 15 minutes are enough to restore 150 km of autonomy.

Although the launch date for the Mercedes-Benz EQB is getting closer and closer, the Stuttgart brand has yet to reveal the prices of the new member of the “EQ family” for Portugal.
