But in 1984, Porsche had to follow the standards of IMSA's GTP class and ended up creating the 962. But if many thought it was going to be a failure incapable of dealing with the success of the 956, they soon realized that the 962 was not coming to follow. no one's footsteps, but to chart your own path. The 962 was a success, Porsche built a total of 91 models, of which only 16 were used by the brand itself.
