Team Fordzilla P1. This is what happens when you have gamers create cars

don't wait to see the Team Fordzilla P1 in the streets. It's a virtual supercar, a collaboration between Ford (design), Team Fordzilla — its eSports (electronic sports) team — and the video game community (gaming), having been unveiled during “gamescon 2020”.

Project P1, as it started to be known, began to be defined by the players themselves: from the position of the seats, to the type of cockpit or the cinematic chain it would have. Only later did the project go into the hands of Ford designers, who interpreted the proposed briefing in their own way.

In the end, two design proposals were selected and put to a vote on Twitter — nearly 250,000 fans voted for the winning design.

The winning proposal for the Team Fordzilla P1 was conceived by Ford exterior designer Arturo Ariño, who ended up garnering 83.8% of the votes.

Ariño was inspired by the Ford GT for the P1, which justifies its set of proportions. However, it assumes a distinct design and technologies that, we believe, should be easier to apply in the virtual world.

The highlight is the possibility of its bodywork being able to metamorphose into two variants: a shorter one, for smaller circuits like Monaco, and another with an elongated rear, for greater aerodynamic stability on the straights of Le Mans.

“Project P1 took me to the beginning of it all. The reason I became an automotive designer was to design something never seen before and something that pushes the limits. your limits of concentration and reflexes, it will also be extremely gratifying to drive."

When can I play with Team Fordzilla P1?

You'll have to wait until 2021, when Team Fordzilla P1 will be introduced into a video game. Ford announced it is in advanced discussions with one of the big names in game production companies to make this happen.

Although the P1 is intended only and only for the virtual world of video games, Ford also announced that it will build a full-scale model, which should be finished and will be revealed later this year.
