Cold Start. Volkswagen's final and emotional farewell to Carocha

Anonim

If there is a car that we can call a true icon of the car industry, it is the Volkswagen Beetle . From the original model — Käfer or Typ 1, to its recent nostalgic reinterpretations, New Beetle and (simply) Beetle — in one way or another, it has been a constant part of Volkswagen since… forever.

Last year, 2019, in July, the last Beetle came off the production line in Mexico and, for the first time in its history, there is no beetle-shaped model in Volkswagen's portfolio.

To mark such a symbolic moment, Volkswagen launched a very small animated film, full of emotion, aptly titled “The Last Mile”, in which we see the original Beetle crossing generations and saying goodbye to all of us:

This seems to be the definitive goodbye to the iconic Volkswagen Beetle — rumors that it could resurface as an electric car resting on the MEB have already been crushed by Volkswagen itself.

However, as the film indicates, “where one road ends, another begins”, alluding to passing from witness to ID.3 , an unprecedented, and electric, chapter in Volkswagen's history — will it mark as much as the Carocha did? Maybe in… 80 years we'll have an answer.
